Light, temperature and Olí app notifications

Modified on Fri, 7 Aug at 4:47 PM

Plants are remarkably resilient. But if you keep changing their routine, lighting or environment every couple of days, they'll let you know surprisingly quickly.

Here are the most common alerts you'll see in the Olí app—and what to do about them.

The app says your plants are under stress

This usually happens after frequent manual changes to the lighting settings.

If you change the lighting mode more than once every 48 hours, your plants may struggle to adapt.

We recommend leaving the lighting in Automatic mode, where Oliver can do the work for you.

The app warns about the ambient temperature

The ideal growing temperature for Oliver is 15–30°C (59–86°F).

  • Above 30°C (86°F), water evaporates more quickly, increasing the risk of overheating and mold.
  • Below 18°C (64°F), plants may slow their growth or experience cold stress.

If the app warns you about the room temperature, we recommend moving Oliver to a more suitable location.

The app detects too much light at night

If Oliver's sensors detect strong ambient light during the night cycle (10:00 PM–7:00 AM), the app will notify you.

This could be caused by street lighting or bright indoor lights.

If this happens, move Oliver somewhere darker during the night.

Yes—even plants need a good night's sleep.

The app asks you to check the water

This is a routine reminder that appears roughly every 14 days.

Check that:

  • there's enough water in the reservoir
  • the roots are still submerged
  • the water is clean

We also recommend using settled tap water and giving the reservoir a gentle but thorough clean whenever you replace your plant capsules.
