Unlike traditional grow lights that usually run on a single fixed setting, Oliver works dynamically.
Each planter uses an intelligent lighting system that adjusts both intensity and spectrum based on the specific plants inside—while also taking your home’s daily rhythm into account.
Each plant gets exactly what it needs
When setting up Oliver, you scan a QR code from each plant capsule in the app. This tells Oliver:
- what is growing in each position
- where each plant is located
- what lighting conditions it needs
Basil therefore receives different conditions than lettuce or chives. Oliver automatically adjusts light output so each plant gets optimal conditions for growth.
That’s why scanning the QR codes is an essential part of the setup process.
What if I don’t use the app?
Oliver will still work without scanning the QR codes.
In that case, it switches to a general lighting mode at 80% intensity.
This is sufficient for most plants, but:
- we cannot guarantee optimal conditions
- nor long-term, fully stable growth for all plants
In other words: your plants will likely grow, but without personalised tuning they won’t receive tailored care.
Light that respects your home as well
Oliver doesn’t only respond to plants—it also follows your natural circadian rhythm.
That’s why the light automatically changes character throughout the day.
Dawn & dusk
07:00–10:00 and 18:00–22:00
During these periods, the system reduces short-wave blue light:
- making the light more comfortable and less intrusive for humans
- supporting natural melatonin production
- providing a gentle transition between day and night for plants
So Oliver won’t turn your living room into an operating theatre in the evening.
Daytime spectrum
10:00–18:00
This is the main “working mode” of the system, optimised for:
- photosynthesis
- healthy growth
- plant vitality and development
This is when plants receive maximum energy for growth.
Can I manually turn the light off or dim it?
Yes. In the app you can:
- temporarily dim the light
- or switch it off completely
However, Oliver will continue to follow its internal schedule. At the next transition (dawn, day, or dusk), the smart lighting mode will automatically reactivate.
